The first 50 years of Country Music – 1929 thru 1979
We will examine the birth of recorded Mountain/Hillbilly/Country music all the way thru the 70’s.
From the Carter Family of Tennessee, the early Barn Dance shows to the Grand ‘ol Opry and the many early successful recording acts along the way. We will also look at how the “Nashville Sound” changed the way that country music was recorded. Lot’s of interesting country music “back stories” will be explored.

The Boom years of Country – 1980’s and 1990’s
This episode explores country music during the Boom years, of the 80’s and 90’s. The growth of country music was like nothing before. Groups like Alabama, The Statler Brothers, The Oak Ridge Boys & Poco. Also, duo acts like The Judds, Brooks & Dunn, Johnny & Rosanne Cash. And solo singers like Randy Travis, John Denver, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Pardon, Trisha Yearwood, and many others.
Besides the “Nashville Sound”, other types of Country Music gained popularity during this time, such as the Outlaw style, and the Bakersfield Sound.
