Research shows that music is stored in multiple areas of the brain. Because of this, patients may still remember songs, lyrics, and associated memories even as other cognitive abilities decline. Music can help stimulate new neural pathways, making it easier for patients to access memories. It can also improve mood helping patients relax, smile, and experience moments of joy.
I only wish we had known about these benefits when my mother was living with Alzheimer’s. It might have made her journey and final years more meaningful and comforting.

Our community, Esplanade Hacienda Lakes, experienced Denny Vincent’s three-part Rock & Roll Music History presentation with wholehearted enthusiasm! Not only did we hear clips of songs from the 50s through the 70s,we heard the back stories behind the songs, bands and groups! Denny entertained us with his vast knowledge and in-depth understanding of music and the music industry! Of all the programs offered in our 6 1/2 years living in Esplanade, THIS was by far, the BEST.
